With "Once Upon a Time..." the Alpine-Adriatic Gallery dedicates a comprehensive retrospective to the painter Hubert Schmalix.

Philip Martin Gallery is proud to present, “Creating Light,” an exhibition of the late works of Los Angeles-based, Austrian-born artist Hubert Schmalix (1952-2025). Most of the works were produced in 2024, with Schmalix reflecting on his long career, a life in Europe, Asia and the United States, and the practice of painting to which he daily returned.

Philip Martin Gallery is proud to present, "A Certain Slant of Light," an exhibition of new and historic works by Carl Cheng, Holly Coulis, Tim Garwood, Sky Glabush, Pamela Jorden, David Korty, Aaron Morse, Hubert Schmalix, Sophie Treppendahl and Sung Jik Yang. In their respective bodies of work, these ten artists of different generations, geographies and backgrounds consider painting, sculpture and assemblage as means by which to interrogate interiority, personal vision and the nature of the art object today.
