For Intersect Palm Springs 2023, Philip Martin Gallery  is proud to present an exhibition of works by five of the gallery's artists: Brian BRESS, Holly COULIS, Tomory DODGE, Kristy LUCK and Aaron MORSE. In their respective works, these five artists explore their own unique vision with regard to individual expression, nature, technology and society.

Brian Bress (b. 1975, Norfolk, VA) received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (Providence, RI) in 1998 and his MFA from the University of California (Los Angeles, CA) in 2006. His work was recently featured in “Message from Our Planet,” at The Carl & Marilynn Thoma Foundation;  "In Production" at the Yuz Museum, Shanghai, organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; "Brian Bress: Pictures Become You," Akron Art Museum (Akron, OH); and "Paradox: The Body in the Age of AI," Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA). Bress’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions including “Idiom (Brian, Raffi, Britt),” Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Los Angeles, CA);  “Interventions: Brian Bress,” Santa Barbara Museum of Art (Santa Barbara, CA); "In the Box: Brian Bress," Chrysler Museum of Art (Norfolk, VA); "The Imperfect Tense (for Josef Albers)," Baltimore Museum of Art (Baltimore, MD); "Screens: Virtual Material," DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum (Boston, MA); "Commercial Break," Public Art Fund (New York, NY); “Brian Bress: Status Report,” New Museum (New York, NY); Museo d’arte contemporanea Roma (Rome, Italy); and "2016 Moving Image Biennial," Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève (Geneva, Switzerland). His 2015-16 touring exhibition, "Brian Bress: Make Your Own Friends," opened at Utah Museum of Fine Arts (Salt Lake City, UT) and traveled to the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (Denver, CO) and Orange County Museum of Art (Newport Beach, CA). His work is in the collections of Frederick R. Holly Coulis (b. 1968, Toronto, Canada) received her BFA from Ontario College of Art and Design (Toronto, Canada) in 1995 and her MFA from School of the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston, MA) in 1998. Recent solo exhibitions include "Holly Coulis,” Philip Martin Gallery (Los Angeles, CA); and "Eyes and Yous," Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery (New York, NY). Holly Coulis’ work was recently included in "North by Northeast: Contemporary Canadian Painting” (Kasmin, New York, NY); Thailand Biennale at the Pimamthip Art Gallery (Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province); and “Evocations: Celebrating the Museum’s Collection” at Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art (Overland Park, KS). Coulis has had recent solo and group exhibitions at Philip Martin Gallery (Los Angeles, CA); Klaus Von Nichtssagend Gallery (New York, NY); Simon Lee (London, UK); Cooper Cole (Toronto, Canada); University of Georgia (Athens, GA); Atlanta Contemporary (Atlanta, GA); Massachusetts College of Art and Design (Boston, MA); Sardine (Brooklyn, NY); Paramó (Guadalajara, Mexico); El Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños (Oaxaca, Mexico); Galleria d'Art Moderna (Milan, Italy); The Bruce High Quality Foundation (New York, NY); and Leo Koenig (New York, NY). Coulis’s work is included in the collections of the Blanton Museum of Art (Austin, TX); Fidelity Investments (Boston, MA); Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art (Overland Park, KS); Rollins College (Orlando, FL); and UT Southwestern Medical Center (Dallas, TX). Her work has been reviewed in publications such as Artforum, Art in America, Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Flaunt Magazine, Hyperallergic, and FT Magazine. Coulis lives and works in Athens, GA.

Tomory DODGE (b. 1974, Denver, CO) received his BFA from Rhode Island School of Design (Providence, RI) and his MFA from California Institute of the Arts (Valencia, CA) in 2004. Tomory Dodge will be featured in the upcoming exhibition, "Pocket Universe" (Philip Martin Gallery, Los Angeles, CA). Kristy LUCK (b. 1985, Woodstock, IL) received her BFA from Rockford University (Rockford, IL) and her MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (Chicago, IL). Kristy Luck will be featured in the upcoming exhibition, "Pocket Universe" (Philip Martin Gallery, Los Angeles, CA). Luck will have a solo exhibition at the gallery in summer 2023. In June 2022, Kristy Luck had a solo exhibition at Mendes Wood DM (São Paulo, Brazil).  Luck’s solo July 2021 exhibition at Philip Martin Gallery was selected as an Artforum Critic’s Pick. Luck’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Philip Martin Gallery (Los Angeles, CA); ODD ARK LA (Los Angeles, CA); Eastside International (Los Angeles, CA); and Tiger Strikes Asteroid (Chicago, IL). Additionally, her work has been included in group shows at Torrance Art Museum (Torrance, CA); Jacob’s West (Los Angeles, CA); 0-0LA (Los Angeles, CA); Guerrero Gallery (San Francisco, CA); Corbett vs. Dempsey (Chicago, IL); A Public Space (Fishers Island, New York); and Projet Pangée (Montreal, Canada). Luck was awarded the Lighthouse Works Fellowship in 2017. Her work has been featured in numerous publications including Artforum, Art in America, Los Angeles Times, Architectural Digest, Artillery Magazine, Whitehot Magazine, The Editorial Magazine, and Opening Ceremony. Luck lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.

Aaron MORSE (b. 1974, Tucson, AZ) received his BFA from the University of Arizona (Tucson, AZ) and his MFA from University of Cincinnati (Cincinnati, OH). Aaron Morse will be featured in the upcoming exhibition, "Pocket Universe" (Philip Martin Gallery, Los Angeles, CA). Morse will have a solo exhibition at the gallery in fall 2023.
